Maytag Epic Washer Door Locked

We placed dirty laundry in washer loaded soap and softener closed door and attempted to start normal cycle as usual. Door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. The cycle did not start and the door was then locked. The door is locked and will not unlock.

The keys are sensitive so epic washers have a button that locks the control panel to stop accidental activation of a new option during a cycle. This is a guide about unlocking the door on a maytag front load washer. After plugging the washer in one of the following 3 events will happen. Run a drain and spin cycle.

Pressing the power button cancels the fan dry option and unlocks the door. Reconnect power to washer plug in. The door should unlock after this is complete. Step 1 place your finger on the cycle end signal button on your maytag epic washer control panel.

The washer will go into a hold and drain routine for 8 minutes. Nothing else will appear to be happening with the machine during this time. Pull down on the plastic tab hanging from the bottom of the door latch assemly. The door may immediately unlock.

Press the drain and spin button on the washer s control panel to attempt to unlock the machine. Once the washer door is closed the washer can begin operating. Front loaders have a locking mechanism to avoid opening the door during a washing cycle but occasionally this lock will be activated accidentally. If not call for service.

Wait approximately 2 minutes for control to reset. Unlocking the control panel is as simple as the touch of a button. I have a maytag epic z automatic washer. The front panel will remove and then you can reach up behind the upper front panel.

If the washer has an f8 e1 error or lo fl error the door will be locked and the control will be unresponsive. To do this remove the 3 screws along the bottom of the lower front panel. Ok so you ll need to open the door manually by unlocking it manually.
