Reconnect power to washer plug in.

If there is no motor humming pull the washer forward and unplug it. After plugging the washer in one of the following 3 events will happen. Reach up along the inside of the front and locate the bottom of the door switch lock unit. The door will not immediately unlock while the cycle is running due to a possible high water level in the washer high water temperature tumbling or spinning. The top panel will pull straight back up and off. The door should unlock after this is complete. If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the washer or disconnect power.

Remove the lower kick panel. For that new maytag washer that you have you will need to unplug the washer and remove the bottom front service panel as shown in the image below. Manually unlocking the door lock system 1. Inspect the door lock for damage.

The door lock led light will blink. The washer will go into a hold and drain routine for 8 minutes. Unplug washer or disconnect power. If the door lock is defective the washer door will not latch properly.

The door may immediately unlock. You should then be able to open the washer door. Nothing else will appear to be happening with the machine during this time. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically.

Carefully reach up along the inside of that front panel and pull down on the manual release tab that is on the bottom of the door latch assembly. Front loaders have a locking mechanism to avoid opening the door during a washing cycle but occasionally this lock will be activated accidentally.
