My spire jacket just arrived today and wouldn t you know it we re going through a warm dry period in the middle of december. It is made from 3 layer gore tex but it s not the pro version. This technical shell features a gore tex 3l membrane to keep you dry and to control your temperature on the uphill downhill and everywhere in between. This will be my first higher end technical shell i ve had many lesser shells throughout my life but this is my first good one.

The marmot precip rain jacket will keep you dry and grinning even in the heaviest of downpours. Affordable three layer protection for high altitude expeditions this gore tex performance shell is ready for anything that you are. That coupled with the multitude of adjustment capabilities makes sure rain won t break through. I put it to the test and went for a winter hike after a snowstorm and it provided warmth and it definitely was water wind proof.

The spire was perfect it is roomy enough to wear over a light insulated jacket for those extra cold days. The marmot spire is a very durable and weatherproof jacket. For this reason it was not our favorite hardshell for all mountain use.
